About this project

A single deep roof plane unifies the pavilion, with screens tuning privacy and breeze.

Ryokan Kitano is a hospitality work in Kyoto, Japan. A hospitality pavilion of timber screens and stone plinths held above still water. Dezignow was engaged for architecture, interior design, carrying the work from first concept through to delivery on site.

Architecture

Stone plinths lift the structure clear of the water, keeping the roofline low and horizontal.

Interior

Interiors open fully to the terrace, with furniture arranged around views rather than walls.

Construction

Timber and stone packages lead the delivery programme.
