About this project

Shade is the primary material: one large roof plane creates the room before any wall is built.

Majlis Cultural Pavilion is a other work in Diriyah, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A desert pavilion of rough stone walls and a single deep concrete plane held above a still pool. Dezignow was engaged for architecture, construction, carrying the work from first concept through to delivery on site.

Architecture

Local stone walls anchor the building to the wadi while the cantilevered roof frames the mountains beyond.

Interior

Interiors remain raw and cool, with daylight admitted through narrow, deliberate slots.

Construction

Stone masonry and board-formed concrete are coordinated with local craft trades.

Project record

A full project record — client, programme and completion details — is released on request. The summary here describes the scope, character and intent of the work.

Begin

Let's create something distinctive.

Whether the commission calls for architecture, interiors, construction or all three, we are glad to discuss it.
